Anders Lindsjö made his first appearance as a free improviser on the legendary double album ”SOUNDS” together with Mats Gustafsson and Raymond Strid in 1989. A result of the first music festival presenting swedish improv music. Lindsjö would continue to work with numerous musicians in the field of free improv music up til 1996, and then retire from the scene as he had started to investigate desires in visual art. Raymond Strid, who appears on this release, early became somewhat a mentor and a source of inspiration. The music presented here, recorded 2007, is the first meeting between the two in nearly twelve years, and one of the first recording sessions after Lindsjös return.

We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)

Örjan Fahlström is the new Musical Director of the HR Big Band in Frankfurt Germany. Originally from Umea Sweden, he was Professor for Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and is well known for his work with European-based jazz-soloists such as Benny Bailey, Bobo Stenson, Tim Hagans or Palle Mikkelborg. Fahlström was the artistic director of the Norrbotten Big Band from 1989 till 1996 and is a regular guest conductor with a number of renowned big bands, including the NDR-Big Band and Estonian Dream Big Band Tallinn. 2 декабря мы вспоминаем каким был джаз для жителей советского пространства – это музыка американских джазменов Л.Армстронга, Э.Фиджеральд, советские песни периода 20-50х годов, которые исполняли Л.Утёсов, А.Вертинский, П.Лещенко, В.Козин. Весёлая и грустная, задорная и меланхоличная, и даже так называемая дворовая лирика.

Все это исполняет музыкальный коллектив "Jazz c Бородой", за 15 лет существования ставший любимцем публики, завсегдатаем джазовых фестивалей, широких городских праздников (День Победы, День Города) и телепрограмм («В нашу гавань заходили корабли» и др.). Руководит этим коллективом известный российский трубач Вадим Зайдин (сотрудничает с оркестром Олега Лундстрема, Анастасией Стоцкой, Анжеликой Варум, Раисой Саед-Шах и др.). А вокал Андрея Родионова (очень популярного человека в мире джаза) согреет вас незабываемым тембром голоса Леонида Утёсова.

Продолжает в сфере модерн-джаза развитие традиций гарлемской школы (т. н. джамп-стиль), соединяет элементы блюза, госпела, раннего свинга и бибопа. Как пианистка Ширли Скотт обнаруживает преемственную связь с Эрроллом Гарнером. Критики оценивают ее фортепианную манеру игры как несколько эклектичную, но весьма привлекательную для слушателя благодаря ее живости, непосредственности и энергичности. В игре на органе Скотт наиболее полно и ярко проявляет свой темперамент, техническое мастерство и богатство импровизаторской фантазии. И хотя ее исполнительский стиль нередко ассоциируется с Джимми Смитом (отчасти заметны также следы влияния «Каунта» Бейси), это не умаляет индивидуального своеобразия ее таланта, имеющего немало почитателей среди любителей джаза.

Международный джазовый фестиваль "Jazz по-ростовски" проходит в Ростове-на-Дону уже шестой раз. В разные годы в нем принимали участие музыканты мировой величины. Вчера мне удалось попасть на первый день фестиваля и заснять не только выступления музыкантов, но и заглянуть за кулисы!
