French Ambassador Pierre Vimont presents Wynton Marsalis the insignia of chevalier of the Legion of Honor medal, France's highest distinction, in a very special ceremony at the French Embassy in New York by French Cultural Services. In attendance were Bill Cosby, George Wein, Jean-Louis Gilhaumon, George Avakian and Wynton's Father Mr. Ellis Marsalis. With a performance by Wynton's quintet with saxophonist Walter Blanding Jr. and Ellis Marsalis at the Steinway Piano with his son.
